Currently there is no other animation app in the store that allows you to do what PhotoPuppet HD does.
BUT…
All other similar apps (Puppet Pals, Animation Creator) limit you to ready-made pictures, or worse – force you to use old-style flipbook animation. Some of them don’t offer YouTube uploads. Some of them don’t have Twitter and Facebook integration. PhotoPuppet HD has all that.

When is the next release due, and will it have cut n paste from other Apps?

We are working on the next release – in the meantime we just submitted VideoPuppet for approval to App Store, so you might want to take a look at that.
Cut’n'Paste can be achieved by making screenshots (pressing sleep button on the top and then the home button) – this will save your screen to the photo gallery – from there you may import the photo to PhotoPuppet.
Currently there is no other way for “Cut’N'Paste” between apps – in iOS you can cut & paste only text.
